Anyone know where I might find parts necessary to rebuild this music desk?

It is hard to figure out exactly what parts you need but it appears there is a brass half hinge in picture number 2. Do you need one on the other side as well as pins on each end of the large rectangular part the music rests against ? maybe a long strip or several smaller strips of piano hinge will work. Another idea is to find a generic music desk from a supply house if there is such a thing. Any idea when this piano was made ? Do you have a serial number ? I have seen many Curriers because the company was in North Carolina and I live in South Carolina. I have never seen any of their grand pianos and would like to get a picture if possible (it is a grand piano isn't it ?)

Regarding the stains on the hammers it seems like all the hammers are spotted like a liquid splashed in it or mice bled out . No damage to any felt or mice droppings in the action, under keys or down by pedals.?  How about any staining on wooden parts, bottom board, case ?

    Hello James,

On the music desk: I'm trying to figure out what the original design was.  These are all the parts the customer had.  Could not locate a serial number on it.  I'm guessing that a brass rod, or wooden part extended across the backside of the music desk.  There are felt "bumpers" on the back of the upright portion of the music rest, but for the life of me, I can't imagine what the original design could have been.

Regarding the hammer stains:  the stains on the key buttons and the hammers were the only evidence I observed.  Did not remove the keys, but usually I'll see droppings in between keys, or on the exposed keybed along with some felt damage or evidence of gnawing on the wood.  This customer actually had TWO pianos exhibiting the same discolorations.  They were located in DIFFERENT buildings -- one in the church, one in the fellowship hall.  Neither showed any additional evidence of mice.  This was a rural mountain location near forest and creek.
    Thanks for the reply.

Talk to Maggie Juziel in your chapter because she works in similar places. As someone mentioned it could be stains from excess moisture and humidity but you should also see rusty metal. Good idea to remove keys and inspect the key bed for droppings etc

If you can get some pictures of the piano itself and measure it as well as pictures of tuning pins, stringing, plate I may be able to identify it better Is the piano a grand piano ? the desk looks like it is. Currier was not a business that lasted long it started in 1964 and ended in 1983. My guess is that most of their pianos where sold in the NC, SC, VA and WV area since they where in Marion NC
