    List,
I service a 10 yr old Boston UP132 that has seasonal buzzing issues throughout the tenor and treble sections. I was at the piano 2 weeks ago, and heard nothing, and now my client has told me the buzzing is unbearable. A couple of years ago it was present while tuning, and I inspected everything I could imagine. The ribs and SB assembly seemed fine (though the current buzzing is very much like a SB/rib buzzing). The only thing I could do to lessen the buzzing was to press against the bridge with a screwdriver where I could reach it, and indeed the buzzing diminished. This definitely made me suspect the joint between bridge/SB.

My question is- how could I verify that this may be what’s causing the buzzing, and what potential fixes might I offer? I have seen on this list suggestions for applying CA to the bridge root/SB joint, but have not had the opportunity to try this.

    Thanks for any tips.

I had a difficult to find buzz. I had to get a stethoscope to find it. It turned out to be the dowel that goes from rib to bridge root. It would rattle inside the bridge on occasion. Drilled it out and glued in a new one. Looks like the original had no glue.

Was the buzz happening on particular notes, or in a whole range of notes?

In the situation I encountered, it was a whole range of notes.
