There may be some slight ambiguity in the "COVID-19 AND PIANO CARE" document published:

    "General Recommendations
    • Use alcohol-based disinfectants, do not use bleach-based disinfectants or any product containing citrus."

(What part of the piano is considered to be the "general part"?

    Then:

    "Keys

The keys are the most important part. Generally speaking, most disinfecting wipes or sprays should be safe to use on the keys."

(Most "off-the-shelf" disinfectant wipes contain bleach which was negatively mentioned in the general part.)

    and lastly:
    "Case Parts

Always test the disinfectant in a discrete area before moving forward to ensure there is no adverse reaction."

(Is the case considered to be the "general part" referenced above, or are we left to our own experiments to discover which disinfectant to use here?)

Or am I just overthinking this, and expecting too much clarity?

    Thanks.

There's something very special about the covid virus - it doesn't like soap.

So ordinary soap on piano keys is interesting . . . as I don't think any key materials are allergic to it. But both bleach and alcohol could be nasty.

    Best wishes
