David,
I wish I knew the answer to your question. I do not.
However, I have had good success quite a few times in reducing hammer weight significantly (they really need to be pretty light for a 15.5mm dimension like that) by reshaping, re-tapering and re-coving and tailing. Then as a follow-up using a quasi-Stanwood protocol evening out the strike weights (budget permitting). It can make a BIG difference if the hammers are otherwise not bad...just too heavy.
I would think Del Fandrich would know.
BTW it was reported that Del's brother Darrell passed away recently.

Subject: Center pin to knuckle distance on Baldwin F
Piano is from mid-1950's. I believe shanks are original. The CP to Knuck measurement is no more than 15.5mm. The replacement hammers, installed a few years ago do not seem light enough for that ratio. Does anyone know if this was a Baldwin standard and, if so, if it was ever changed? While not an immediate rebuild candidate, I'm hoping to be able to get back to it within a month or so to experiment.
Thanks -
