We prioritize capstan to wippen heel over jack tender to let-off button. Our reasoning is that the jack will be tripped no matter where on the let-off button it makes contact (not on the very edge, obviously), whereas power and even reliability can both be impeded by too great a deviation from ideal at the capstan/heel interface.

There are three contact points on a wippen: The capstan, the let off button, and the knuckle. Obviously having the jack and knuckle centered is the most important. But between the capstan and the let off button, which one of these is the most critical that it be centered? Or does it matter at all, as long as the capstan hits the wippen cushion and the jack touches the button?
