Like many articles, they got MOST of it right. I really wish they had used the word "incorporated" instead of "developed" when mentioning the balancing. They also chose to leave out my mention of attending seminars and manufacturer training. Truth is, we have developed procedures for piano service largely based on years of exchanging ideas and learning from others. I was relieved they kept the credit to David Stanwood and Robert Springer. That being said, I am grateful for the recognition of service to the school.
The background to the article was the work I did on the Lennon Steinway donation. Although there was plenty of potential in the piano, the action was severely limiting. When they wanted to do a video story on the donation, I told them they needed to wait, as I had removed the action for service and balancing. They were intrigued and wanted to include that in the story.
