Hi, Kevin,
Is it a full-size pedal harp? And does it still have its own case, and any of the original packing material, shipping box etc? I have had good luck with a couple of the smaller piano moving companies handling odd items for me, but a big harp can be so fragile and expensive. If you Google the topic, you see lots of options, including one option to have a packing box filled with that expanding foam stuff (the harp is inside its case and wrapped in plastic, of course) by FedEx or UPS.
You might want to check with Ward Guthrie. His daughter played harp extensively, and I know she was in California for a while then back to Montana. She may have some experience with shipping her harp, and Ward might be familiar with the problems too.
I played pedal harp myself for a while, many years back. Good luck.

Fellow CAUT techs, would anyone happen to know a recommendation on who may be best to use for shipping a nice grand harp from Michigan to Amarillo, Texas??
I suppose we could check with Piano Moving companies...but I'm out of my area of specialty for sure. (It's for my nieces daughter-been taking harp lessons for about 6 years using a rental. Now advancing)
