Hello.  Does anyone know where I can get a replacement part, in the Kawai catalog it's called Muffler Arm Hook.  It's plastic and is in several Asian made pianos, connecting the cable to the the Muffler Arm and Rail.  It's in a Boston upright, but Steinway as been unresponsive about it.  Maybe it's too small an order.  They are in Kawai pianos, but they won't sell me one because it isn't a Kawai.  I'm attaching a photo.  There is a little arrow pointing at the part in question.

    Thanks very much.

Try to get a serial number from  a  Kawai piano  for which Kawai Corp. will sell you the part .

    Martin,

    Tisk Tisk, shame shame.

Please relay to your customers that they will get much better support for their pianos if they purchase the Kawai in the first place!

You may need to order the whole muffler cable, Boston part no. 0U0876.

I wonder if you could get a bicycle brake cable part that would work? It’s very similar.

I can't really make out the configuration of the part. But if it's what I think it is (the cable end unit), could a damper barrel be used or something similar?

Could a dowel with a slot cut into it for the cable and then filled with a strip of wood. If it is a pivoting holder is what you need.

What's broken, the plastic holder or the cable?

But if you don't get it from Steinway it will no longer be a Boston!

    Thanks everyone.

The cable is fine.  It's the plastic bracket that shattered.  I considered making something from wooden dowel, but I thought I'd try purchasing one first.

Does the plastic holder have a slot for replacement? You might need to get the whole cable to keep it OEM.

    Hi Robert,

I used to work for the local dealer of both Kawai and Boston. I sent an email with your photo off to my replacement asking him to dig around and see if he can come up with anything. No promises but it's sure worth a try.
