Since the original thread seems to be broken, please re-enter you posts here. I hope this one works...

There was an ENTIRE post that was copied from an email, and pasted in. You can tell by the brown color of the message bars (see the attached file). I've removed the links and text and am pasting in the graphic only. Note how I have outlined: "Do not forward this message due to auto login" . I clicked on an entire email copied and pasted message recently, and became logged in as someone else! Just copy text ONLY (from an email) and not the entire image with links.

If the forwarded post were to be deleted, from the original thread, would the thread be repaired?

    No.

People would have to re-post here.

How can we be sure who actually sent the posts if they were logged in as someone else due to auto login?

Jon, do you have all of the 14 posts OR did you notice that you never received them by email?

I've opted out of e-mail, I just read on the web. I only see 6 posts in the original thread.

If the lost 8 posters could look in their profile for their missives and repost, that would be useful.

    Hi, Jon,

Later today, I may be able to help with this.

    Kind regards.

    Mr. Page,
If you go to the page with only six visible posts and select view by most recent you should be able to see the missing posts.

Yes, that seems to be the symptom: Sort by Thread is screwed up somehow, Most Recent is just fine.

I agree that sort by most recent shows all of the posts in the previous thread.

There are no copy/pasted email posts (that include links and "do not forward") in this latest thread. Everything shows just fine.

    Paul,
I gather the offending email you are referring to was Debby Cyr's. I believe what she did is what I am doing now, simply hitting reply in my email program, and the original html message is quoted below automatically. Does that cause some kind of software problem in the system?

Seems not to have produced the same result as what Debby Cyr's post did. The html content didn't show up. Sorry for taking up the bandwidth, but thought it might help solve the mystery.

Nick- they are still in business and I get calls to do work in this area. I stumbled on this booklet while doing research primarily on Chickering & Sons pianos and their factory in Boston.  In July of 2019 I took a tour of what remains of the former factory and it was quite impressive since I got to go into the real basement, former engine house and other areas not open to the public. I am working on a series of articles for the PTG Journal this year. Also a local retired doctor has an 1869 Steinway and Sons Style 1 with a partial plate, exposed block, full agraffes. Only 4 of these pianos were ever made and I believe I have found them all. I hope to do some more articles on this discovery. The piano here was owned by Ernest Schelling who was a student of Paderewski and performed all over the world . This piano was likely transported around the world although I saw that he used Steinways and Mason & Hamlins at various  times.
