I have received the same offer from "Kate Schlatter". Looking for a "good home for her late husband's Yamaha Grand". Wow, what a nice and unusual gesture!!! The piano is supposedly at the moving co. in Little Rock and all I have to do is pay the movers (McGhees Movers) and they will ship it! Meanwhile, the movers only accept Zelle or other means of direct deposit. No checks or credit cards. lol. Really? Kind of odd for a moving company.

Although "Kate" sent me photos of a beautiful piano but refuses to give me her phone number or discuss the situation in any way other than via email. "She" just said she would answer any questions solely via email or I could contact the movers directly. It all just seemed very sketchy and when I read all the posts on ptg.org it finally confirmed my suspicions. Watch out folks!!!

You have to wonder how many people took the bait . There are many scams going on via email stating you have won this or that just give them your credit card info to pay shipping. The Yamaha grand scheme has been going on for months....

    Also:

"Thank you for your order of a MacBook (whatever)...if you did not authorize this purchase, press 1 (or whatever)"

Total scam to get you to respond in one way or another. I found this one very hard to resist since I did not order such a thing, therefore I "should" let them know. WOW!  But a few moments of restrained thought convinced me it was a total scam. I deleted it.

I've had three of those in the last week.

I ended up forwarding them to my ISP. Then I deleted them.

A related scam, on Facebook.  I had a friend request from a retired technician in our chapter who had recently moved to Texas.   I saw that he had a few common friends that I knew from our chapter, so I bit the bait and agreed to be a friend.   Shortly after, I got this: "Hello.  How are you doing today?".  Not what my friend would have written, so I replied, "Hi. I just want to be sure you're the real Dale P***py. Please tell me what you "used" to do, and where."  I got this reply: "That's great....hope all is well with you and your family, I was just wondering if you have heard the great news about me yet?".
Ok, this is a scam.  I blocked him.  I don't know how FB really works, but I hope I never hear from this jerko again.  If it looks suspicious, investigate and proceed with caution.

FYI, the spam has now evolved! For months it was a Yamaha. This morning I woke up to the same email - but the piano was a beautiful baby grand Steinway! What will they come up with next?

I got the Steinway one too, and today another "we have charged your credit card $350.00...please press 1 if you did not authorize this". I wish there was a way to electrocute them on the other end. Why hasn't someone invented this?

Feel free to use this reply:
"You're in luck. You've contacted the network of piano technicians heeding Trump' call to place a Steinway baby grand piano in every room of his Mar a Lago resort (https://www.maralagoclub.com/guest-suites). Call their number (561-832-2600). He does have an unimpeachable record with his resorts' vendors and contractors. You'll be proud to have contributed to this gold standard of excellence."
