Kimball Viennese Pedals

A music store took a Kimball Viennese Grand in on trade and the pedals came as you see in the picture below.  They've used the same type of nylon pedal brackets as they used in the LaPetite's, to the same end.  None of the supply houses that I've talked to have a replacement.  Does anyone know of a different path to try?

Fabricate new hold-down brackets out of wood or HMD plastic.

That's my last resort, of course.  I was hoping for someone to say, "Oh yes, call so and so and they may still have a supply."  I was hoping for quick and accurate first as the guys have lots of other pianos in line that need to be repaired.  Thanks for the suggestion, though!

Can you remove and invert the parts as they are?

I don't think that will work, Ed.

That's precisely what I did Jon.  I used the old one as a drill guide and created a new one out of a block of pinblock material as I recall.  After drilling the holes I cut it in the right place on the table saw and had my two piece replacement.  The time it took to create the new one was about how much time I would have spent looking for a replacement  .......  with out the wait.

I'm quite sure I have some sort of small pile of brackets that look just like yours. How can I tell if I have the exact one you need? Do you have some measurements perhaps?

Hi Ted, Jim Geiger may have some of those already made up. He was the Kimball warranty rep for many years. He is semi-retired and lives in Waco, Texas. You would probably have to call him though and I believe they are out of town at like a wedding in Ohio or someplace. It might be worth a shot.

Ted, Jim just called me back this afternoon & I asked him about these Kimball grand pedal brackets. He has a whole box of them made up. They are 40.00 including shipping (in US). He said just leave a message if they don't answer & they will get them shipped to you. (They are made of wood I believe I mentioned. So they really should never be an issue again.)

By the way, one of Jim's favorite sayings while I was going through his piano technology program at Houston Community College was the following question:
"Well, do want to fix it RIGHT... or do you want to fix it FOREVER...????!"

I wanted to provide an ending to this thread by saying that we ordered the pedal bracket from Jim Geiger in Waco and it worked perfectly!  Superb workmanship and better than the original, by far.  The same music store chain just received another Viennese (weird coincidence) last week and we're just going to change out the bracket even if it's not broken yet.  The music store owner wants the pianos going out in the best condition possible and agreed with the decision as it will save a call-back and a potential unhappy customer.  Again, thanks so much for the help folks.  And Kevin, thanks for the referral!
