(…to discuss pianos from the player's perspective!!)
Music educator, impresario, and concert pianist Danny Holt will join forces with long-time CalArts piano technician Alan Eder, R. P. T., for an hour of exploring pianos from the player's perspective. Holt and Eder will be the featured guests on the weekly Zoom-cast "Piano Technicians Radio Hour" on Saturday, June 6, from 11 am to noon Pacific time.
While pursuing his M.F.A. in piano performance at CalArts, Danny worked with Alan in the Piano Shop, and so has a solid understanding about pianos and their servicing needs, and an unusually keen appreciation for the work of skilled piano technicians. Alan has serviced Danny's personal pianos over the years and has long encouraged Danny to share the extraordinary tale of his gradual yet inexorable ascent up the ladder of piano acquisition.
After treating listeners to some samples of his playing, Danny will recall the saga of his decades of piano consumption (nine pianos, one hybrid and one digital keyboard), discuss the quality and condition of the pianos at the various music schools he attended over the years, and conclude with tales from the concert stage: The Good, The Bad and The Ugly (pianos, piano technicians and presenters) that Danny has encountered along the way in his extensive concert career.
This event is produced by PianoTechniciansMasterClass.com and participation is FREE.
