    Hello all,

I'm interested in trying my hand at video marketing. Several questions:

Do any of you do video marketing, that I could look at to get an idea of how it works?

Any good reference materials you could recommend?

    Thanks!

I'm not sure what you mean by video marketing. Is that making a video to put on your website?

Check out a couple links linked below.  Are those the kind of marketing videos you're talking about, videos in your website instead of just pictures of pianos and/or videos about yourself and your services?

    Hi Scott,

Yes, putting a video on my website, intruding myself and my services.

    Hi Gary,

Yes, thanks! The second link is exactly what I'm looking for. Out of curiosity, how has video marketing worked for you? Obviously it's a good idea to have a video of a piano you're trying to sell, but I'm wondering about the effect the video has on your attracting new clients, in your opinion.

    Thanks again,

It gives the new customer who's shopping for service a more personal feel for you than a picture and text.  People are more tech savvy these days and less trusting, for good reasons.  The video seems to provide a more legit and personal touch.

    Gary,

is your website set up to allow you yourself to update, add new videos, etc, or do you have to make additions through your web person?

On a side note, what program do you use to put together the video? I used to be proficient in Windows Live Movie Maker, but they've discontinued it, so I'm at a loss for what to use. Any suggestions are appreciated! Thanks,

If you have an old version of Windows Live Movie Maker you could still use that.  I'm running Windows 7 on my home computer and still have WLMM on there.

    Hello All,

I found a new video editor program for windows, Movie Maker 10. Essentially updated version of Windows Live Movie Maker, for Windows 10. Available for free from the Microsoft App Store.

Basic functions are free, but they want you to pay for things like cutting a clip, etc. There's other free video editing programs on the MS App Store, so thats an easy work-around if you don't want to fork over $10.

I'm planning (and beginning to record) some customer oriented videos about regulation and voicing, more on the way. I'll post back when I'm done.

    Happy Tuning,

I spent some time getting my video capabilities up to snuff, this past fall.  After a false start with another program, I bought Adobe Premier Elements. It suits my needs. Bought a decent DSLR, already had a Tascam digital and good mikes, bought a cheap lapel mike. Ended up synching  the audio to the video in editing, because the sound quality was way way better, for what I was trying to show.

A big advantage of the video was that it showed my personality in ways that text and pics would just never nail. And the instrument's sound was accurate and attractive, if earphones are used.

Jim, we can add our own content and videos.  We have a friend who initially set up the site for us and who filmed and edited some of the initial videos.  But we can go in and add or edit content now that it's up and running.  If we want to do anything very tricky we may have to call him for help.
Benjamin, our friend shot the video of me working in the shop with the voiceover.  I don't know what program he used, I'm sure something very professional.  However, you can shoot and edit with an iPhone or Android and get decent enough quality then just upload to youtube and put the link in the website.  That's pretty easy and common.
