    Hello All,

    Has anyone here had experience with Dr. Jack Hamilton's Rapid Voicing Method? I'd be interested in hearing what you think if you've tried it.

    Benjamin, I looked this up earlier today-I remember (faintly) seeing that one tool before. 
    The method does look intriguing. Hopefully someone who has tried it will chime in. 
    (It does appear that one of the two tools shown is a basic "chopstick" voicing tool. The other seems to suggest the same type of voicing for uprights.)
    $97 could possibly be a decent investment if there is some truly great info/technique, etc on that DVD but it just seems to have a bit of a "just another sales"  feel to it. Perhaps a chapter project??

    I'm not convinced by the video. He only played chromatically at a forte. When you listen to the before and after fast comparison, yes the attack is less harsh, but from his demonstration we couldn't hear what was done to the sustain with whatever mystery technique he used-maybe "angel shot" voicing. I think I'll stick to traditional methods of what I know works. I'm not falling for a quick sales pitch.

     Hi all, 

    He uses a dental pick as far as I understand. Jim Busby has a picture of it in his e-book on voicing. Page 376 I think. I have heard from other top notch voicers that the rapid voice or is mostly "Hokum". 

     I have never used it myself.

    My guess would be that he heard about Stanwood's compass point method, made a small change and set out to monetize it. The "doctorate " is no doubt courtesy of MPA.  Don't waste your money.

    Thank you all who replied. My point in asking about it was not to turn this thread into a bash session, but rather to get real information from someone who has used it. Please, if you have not used the rapid voicing method do not comment about how you think it couldn't work or speculate about why it's a fraud. Until someone tries it and posts back real results here, we do not know for sure if it works or not, or how. Please, let's try and keep an open mind.

    Ben, Fred Sturm has been tuning pianos since before you were born.
    You might consider having an open mind to his freely given, highly educated and experienced advice.
    By the way, I get similar voicing results in 2 minutes with a wire brush I bought for 99 cents.
    Unless you have unlimited funding, it will be a good idea to develop an educated critical attitude toward amazing on-line offers.
    "Dr." Jack's voicing tool has been for sale for several years, and we have not heard any recommendations on Pianotech or CAUT.

    I'm not rejecting Fred's advice to not leap on every online offer that comes along. I'm trying to ask for results from someone who's used it; from what I gather, no one here has.

    Yes, I know there are inexpensive voicing methods that get results very quickly. Thank you for suggesting them; I will give them a try as well.
