    Hi David:
    The problem I had with Wood Rebuilder is the shelf life. I'd buy a quart, and if I didn't use it within a year, it went bad and wouldn't harden. This happened several times. I don't (didn't) use it all that frequently, but when I needed it, it worked really well. So, for me, a smaller quantity would work best, and especially if it has a short shelf life.

    Yes that is the nature of the product and it would degrade sooner if left in a warm car or a warm spot in the shop. Always store in a cool place but NOT in your wife's refrigerator it will ruin all the food. We all should know that another great characteristic is the Wood Rebuilder expands and contracts similar to wood unlike Bondo for metal on cars.

    The resin powder lasts. It's the liquid hardener that looses effectiveness. Will the hardener be available in small quantities to supplement the longevity of the resin?

    Yes, best purchased in smaller quantities. I guess it's just the nature of all polyester resins.  However, I learned that as it was nearing the end of its useful life (a.k.a. mixing it up and applying it before realizing it's dying), the application of heat from a heat gun (not too much of course) would jumpstart the reaction leading to a full cure.  I don't remember if I ever tried it on a totally dead resin though.

    You are correct. Heat gun on low works in jumpstarting the activation process but many times a hairdryer on high is safer.

    Yes we will make it in smaller quantities for the convenience of all of us.  Hazardous Shipping regulations will dictate some of our decisions. But the bottom line is our shop like everyone will only use the best ingredients in a repair because the supplies are usually 5% to 10% of our labor costs. We add 15% to our labor for hidden costs of finish repairs. Trying to save .5% to 1.% on a inferior product is not worth our time. Shelf life is just the nature of the product and that is why we add that into our cost of repairs.

    As mentioned try heating with a hairdryer your resin and powder after mixing and applying to the surface. This should extend your resin usefulness.

    Pints is the smallest size at this time but as I said earlier shipping hazardous materials dictate what size is affordable to ship.
