Hey Garrett, I am a newbie myself, I do not have all the logistics figured out just yet, but I may be interested in sharing a room. I will not arrive until either late Monday evening or perhaps Tuesday. I most likely could land a room close to the convention that may not cost as much but still be a quality hotel.

Hi Justin, if you find a cheaper hotel in walkable distance please share the location, I find the nearby hotels are all same price range. Thanks

Hi there! I have found more affordable hotels; however, they are not within in a walking distance of the convention location. Most are within a 10–12-minute drive.

I had initially looked at the Comfort Inn, about a block away from the convention center, thinking it would be cheaper than the Hilton, but with the convention discount the Hilton was more affordable.

One wild idea I've considered trying is to find willing roommates, bring a thick inflatable sleeping pad, and go three to a room. (Just have to put it away during the day or put up the "do not disturb" sign so the Hilton doesn't get mad.) If somebody tries that, let me know how it works. I know I'm almost as comfortable on a pad as in a bed.

I've seen people go cheap. KOA campground for 50-60 per night, eat meals in the local hospital cafeteria.

I will tell you as a long time attendee there's a lot of learning and connections made at the convention hotel outside of the classrooms.
