I am at the point of refinishing my Knabe plate.  Preparations are mostly completed and I'm hoping to work on it this Saturday.  I am going to spray finish it and I already have the bronzing powder.  I am going for a glossy look, and am wondering what finishing products you like using?  (Obviously, water based is out of the question since I'm using bronzing powder.)  Any products, steps and/or tips you care to share would be appreciated.

    Thanks!

Well, I went with a two part polyurethane from an auto paint shop for my first plate.  I used an old (and quite crude) sprayer, small compressor from a neighbor and very much not a dust free environment, but I'm pleased with the results. Below are some before and after photos.

For a glossy finish, spray a few top coats of clear gloss. Do not sand/scuff the last gold coat, scuff marks/dullness will show thru the topcoat.

Looks great Tim!  I prefer the less glossy look myself.
