The local dealer has an otherwise excellent (musically) D circa 1974. The underlevers have been ravaged by lead bloom. I'm looking for advice on the Steinway back action. They are now using the rosette flanges, which I don't believe are on the original which would necessitate replacing the tray et. al.
I would appreciate advice on anyone who has done this replacement on a D from this period. Is it comparatively easy to switch them out? Any pitfalls? Will the tray fit in the old flanges?
I'm waiting to hear back from Peter regarding the underlever flanges.
This is a Steinway dealer so he is going to go with S&S parts.

    >>Okay, I do not know how a Briggs and Stratton carburetor got there but I don't know how to get rid of it.

    Steve

The picture you sent appears to be the engine of a lawn mower. Was that your intent?

Very Nasty lead debris. Be careful how you handle all of the lead schrapnel and how you dispose of it. I would think the key leads are in bad shape as well. Good idea to find out the best way to pack it up and get the lead recycled or destroyed. Because it is a heavy metal there are many health risks that affect the brain and organs. Read up on lead paint, lead plumbing, lead contaminated soil
