Does anyone have a source for Steinway type pedal pin sleaves. Cloth bushings just don't last as long as the nylon type material. My experience of trying to order them from Steinway was a bit fraught.

    Hi, John,

As I tend to buy these a dozen or so at a time; and haven’t ordered any for a while, I don’t know what their current supply is like.

That said, and only FWIW, I have found that it’s often much easier to use those bushings if one also replaces the pivot rod with the newer, marginally smaller dimension one. The while the old rod doesn’t need replacing because of wear (unless, of course,it does), its larger diameter can make installation of the new bushings an exercise in frustration.

If someone else has a better solution, I’d love to know it!

    Kind regards,

    Horace

You can melt paraffin pieces into ecsaine cloth (perhaps using a cheese grater and heat gun.) This will need the pedal plate screw to be tightened after the ecsaine “breaks in,” but a good, lasting replacement.
I am quite sure it’s a tip handed from Roger Jolly.

    Hi John,

This is part number 007940 (Pedal Pivot Rod Teflon Bushing) from the Steinway parts department.  They are sold individually.

Usually a good idea to also order part number 007286 at the same time (Pedal Pivot Rod Leather Disks) These are sold as a dozen.

If you already have a parts account, email parts@steinway.com with your account number and full order.

They are in stock, and they will be able to ship when the factory returns from shutdown second week in August.
