I picked up a flyer at the 2016 convention from Walter Piano listing services they now offer including: Advanced Restoration & Rebuilding, access to parts and collaboration as well as an extensive piano inventory and moving services. Who can clarify exactly what they are offering and if they are still building verticals? They were always very decent and affordable instruments and I've heard little about them recently.

Walter has been at several conventions recently, excepting Arlington. Why not contact them directly? I'm sure they'd love to tell you what they're about nowadays.

In my discussions with them in the exhibit hall, they are still moving pianos (Walterpianotransport.com), rebuilding all sorts of pianos (see their Facebook postings), and are eagerly seeking used Walter pianos to rebuild/recondition. And they love talking to piano technicians.

Are they not building pianos anymore?

I just called them. They are in "design mode change", since Walter & Barbara have died, and will resume production in a couple of months. It was a very short conversation with whoever answered the phone. She hung up before I could ask any other questions.

a year or two ago I tried several times to get an tech answer from them; left messages, emails; never got any response! I assumed they were no longer in business!

Oh yes, and unanswered phone calls; their son at one point had taken over the company, but could never get a response from him by phone or email.

Does anyone have a name and number for tech support?

I ran into several brand new verticals (working for a dealer) over a period of years where the repetition was not great; you would have to let up on the key pretty much all the way before it would repeat; I did the usual checking aftertouch, lost motion, letoff, key easing, etc; nothing helped. Anyone else experience this? Action design issues? Find a solution?

    Best, Peter
