Hello everyone, I need to order new hammer shanks for the 1922 Steinway O I am working on. I like the fact that the WNG shanks hold their pin friction setting better than standard shanks, but I am concerned that using them may make the piano harder to sell. Otherwise, the piano has wooden wippens, so it would only be the shanks that would have the WNG composite material. What if any experience to you have with this issue?
Also, I have spoken to a number of technicians who have received hammer shanks from some of the major manufacturers with too much side to side motion, and shanks that had to all be repinned. Can you recommend a high-quality wooden hammer shank that you have recently ordered and had good success with?
Thank you, Joe
