I came across the above piano yesterday and would like to track down advertising/catalogs for the same year. It is an early model parlor grand made by Steinway & Sons from 1861 to 1879 and is a 7'1" square tailed. Current owners bought it at auction from an antique shop where it was in poor condition- the finish was covered in soot and sticky black dust, broken strings etc. They had the piano checked out and put the money into restoring it including having the action replaced by Steinway in Germany. There is more to the story which i will be putting together for the PTG Journal I hope because in 150 years it has led an adventuresome life. I understand that this vintage is rare to find today. It had many features that stood out including exposed pin block, partial perimeter plate, forward leaning tuning pins.   I need to vet the story I was told to make sure it is not all urban legend so stay "tuned"
