Is anyone hooking up a piezo pickup to their ETD?
How do you like the results?
Have you tested the readings against the mic readings?
Where do you put the pickup?
    Thanks in advance.

I use the IMM-6 microphone (with a short extension cable) and the display doesn't jump around so much at the extremes. Plus it allows me to keep the screen in a comfortable viewing spot while the mic is located for optimum sampling.

Thanks Jon, my interest in the pickup is to eliminate as much ambient noise as possible as I'm going to be tuning a piano in less than ideal conditions on a weekly basis. Having a mic like you describe helps in that regard but a pickup would do even better. Seems to me that someone was marketing a pickup for tuning purposes in the not too distant past. I don't think a specialized one would be necessary though.
What I'm wondering is whether or not the signal through the board or plate is a match compared to the signal gained through the air.

    Steven,

I assume you are aware that Sanderson makes a magnetic pickup for exactly the reasons you state.

Thanks Dave, I thought I'd seen that somewhere. I'm not sure what they mean by "magnetic" pickup and they don't provide much information. Their online catalogue doesn't load.
My thinking is that a pickup, or mic, can be attached to a bluetooth transmitter, a wireless setup seems a little more convenient. I have a BT transmitter that is about the size of a matchbook. Will do some tests and report.

I do not have one, but I am guessing someone here has experience with the Accu-tune pickup. I have always considered getting one for my SAT IV “just in case” I ran into your situation. I have suspected that it probably works better than the internal mic even in a less noisy environment.

The catalog does not say much nor is there a photo. What it does say is:

“This accessory plugs directly into the the MAG IN jack, disabling the instrument’s internal microphone. This item is indispensable when tuning in very noisy environments. The magnetic pickup is placed on the plate of the piano which allows completion of a fine tuning, even when the played notes cannot be heard above the noise.”
