    Hi All,

i have a Baldwin L here with a knocking noise from a front rail needing to be bedded. The gap in the middle is 2mm. And each end is bedded. I have tried adjusting the glide bolts hoping someone caused a problem there. But these seem fine. No improvement.

Normally I would just sand as appropriately to bed but this gap is large. See attached photo.

    Suggestions?
    TIA,
    Daniel

Maybe judicious kerfing of the front rail.

I would examine the keyframe for warpage,broken/loose keyframe joinery, or for previous bad repair to get a good assessment of the problem for a good solution.

    Thank you guys.

I made a rookie mistake and overlooked the front rail glide bolts in the key bed. I never fully removed the action so I didn't even notice them at first.

I adjuated them and all the knocking went away. Regulation is acceptable.

    Thanks again!
