Hi all, I have a client with a Story & Clark grand. The piano appears to have been built by Samick, and features a QRS player mechanism. The two-lever system was not installed properly (see attached photo), and I would like to contact somebody at QRS about getting this repaired properly.

The pin that is sticking out is too large for the hole in the mounting block, and doesn't go through to the mounting block on the other side. In addition, the pin is mangled.

Is there an email address for somebody at QRS? There's no "Contact Us" link on their website.

    Thank you in advance,

    Norm Dutton

It seems that all you need to do is put in a smaller trap work pin that you can get from Schaff or try loosening the screws just a little on each of the blocks and the pin and holes can be re-aligned . If the pin goes through the first block it should go through the second . Thre contact at QRS is Lori Cutter. PM me for her number but there also should be some QRS techs near you although this does not look difficult to fix

    Hi Jim,

Schaff only carries one size of trap pin, .155". Is this the same size pin as QRS puts in their trap rods? That's the sort of information I would like to get from QRS. Also, the block may be damaged from having an oversized pin jammed into it, and the rod it goes through seems to have a lot of play in it. I don't know if that's normal, or not.

The closest QRS tech is over an hour away from here, and he's justifiably reluctant to come here for small problems like this. I guess it might be better to contact him than Lori. The situation is just irritating to me.

I also probably should not have claimed this was necessarily an installation problem, as somebody else could have ham-handedly tried to fix the problem. I'm just certain the previous piano tech who worked on this piano did not do this.

    Thanks,

Why not drill tha hole in the block larger? Also they do not look parallel, which might be the problem with insertion.
