Looks like I made a big mistake, so I deleted my previous posts. Some of the other comments were deleted as a result, because they were replies to my posts. Sorry about that. So, it turns out I had the boxes of the older wippens mislabeled. I had the older Steinway wippens labeled as Mason and Hamlin. I did find the older wippens of the Mason Modell AA and they are exactly the same as the Mason Model A wippens. I have attached a pic of both wippens. Sorry for all the confusion, but I am glad I found this mistake that I made. So, just to be clear, the Mason Model A and Model AA wippens are the same. Thanks to Peter and his sharp eyes for picking up on my mistake.

Subject: are the wippens used in a Mason & Hamlin model A the same as those used in a model AA
H Peter,
In general, the Mason Hamilin wippens are the same from model to model.
However, if the piano was made by the "Aeolian factory" there may be some differences.
If you would like to send me a photo of one, I can help you identify that.
Melanie
