Dear Colleagues
Upon tuning in Italy last week I had a series of Yamahas which all needed revoicing, driving the owners nuts with their hard Yamaha tone.
I'm going to be writing an article for the UK PTA News (if the Journal would like it also perhaps it might be useful in the UK too) and whilst working on an instrument with their Silent system fitted, I should have taken a photo of the diagram on the left hand side of the action showing mounting/dismounting sequences - which showed the hammer shape.
But frustratingly I didn't take that photo . . . and I won't be visiting the instrument for a year.
Please whenever someone has the action out on a Grand silent fitted instrument, could you be good enough to take that photo?
Spoiler alert - it's that hammer shape which gives the Yamaha instruments a tone which ceases to be endearing when the hammers are worn.
Many thanks
Best wishes
