    Hi,

Has anyone here used Old Brown Glue for key bushings instead of hot hide glue? I use the Spurlock two-caul bushing system and wonder if OBG's longer open time mean that I have to leave the cauls in for a longer time.

    Benjamin,

OBG is the same as Titebond liquid hide glue. Just hide glue with urea.
This will be strong enough for key bushing but it may seep through the cloth more easily and require a longer cure time before you can remove the cauls.

I have used fish glue . You need to be careful with the glues you use for bushing work and in applying it . Too much and you get squeeze out and it saturates the felt and will harden it. I think the old brown glue may be best for other repairs. You do not need a lot of open time to do bushing work - just need to have the proper setup and technique.
