Hey folks, just looked at a little Neupert that needs extensive work. In the long ago past I was able to get part's directly from them although it was not easy. Anyone have more recent experience? Or should I just avoid this completely..

    Hi David,

With recent posts about the Instrument Workshop, etc. I keep wondering where the folks in Europe turn to for parts? I’ve never heard of suppliers overseas, but I’d bet there are plenty.

And what options do we have here? Of course we have Zuckerman, but who is HCH, and what other suppliers do we have in the US?

Neupert still sells parts, and says they will make parts for other harpsichords as well. Here's a link to their price list. I haven't dealt with them directly, but have had customers who did.

Suppliers in the US are nearly at the vanishing point. Zuckermann and Harpsichord Clearing house offer a fair amount of what is needed from day to day, but with the disappearance of Hubbard and Instrument Workshop that's about it. (You can find some pretty flaky-looking operations if you search the internet).

Marc Vogel  is probably the closest to a full-service harpsichord supply business. Forniture Techniche Pianoforti in Italy has a fair selection (from fortepianos and harpsichords) but very pricey. http://www.harpsichordjacks.net/ will make wooden jackets to spec or copy. There are a couple other sources for wire, like Malcolm Rose. That's about all the suppliers I know of at the moment.

    Jim,

To answer your question about HCH, they are doing fine.
I get supplies from them regularly. I haven't heard any talk of
retirement, so I think they are good for a bit longer.

Mostly they do harpsichord restoration and resale, but do build a few instruments
such as continuo organs, clavichords and ottavino harpsichords.

There is a company in Oregon and others around the country.
Carey Bebee in NSW Australia is an excellent source as well.
