I called Pianotek and their answering machine says that they are closing and no longer taking orders. Along with Schaff, Pianotek is a frequent flier for me and I feel concerned about this news, since some of my important purchases through them are not available through Schaf. Does anyone know if they are selling? It seems they are directing people to Schaff.

Just called to see. Apparently it's true. So sad! I hope nothing's wrong. Last I knew they were supposed to reopen today from the holiday weekend and weren't planning on closing their business. :(

So...it looks like you can still order on the website. Anyone know if those orders are being fulfilled? I assume they still have lots of stock on hand and will continue until everything is sold out?

I placed an order about 4 days ago and called them to add an item and got the same message. I just received an email, though, saying that Schaff is purchasing all of their inventory and that my order may be delayed because it sounds like they are in the middle of the move. So sad! I really loved the staff at Pianotek and have had some difficulties with ordering through Schaff more than once.

I also got the same "order may be delayed" message from Schaff about an online order placed over Memorial Day weekend. The order (for a few springs) will arrive tomorrow.

Pianotek was my first stop for most everything. They will be sorely missed.

Hopefully Schaff will adopt a similar website like Pianotek's: Fast and responsive, an accurate search function, and a decent picture of every item. Schaff's item descriptions are good but the search function needs attention. Searching "damper felt" brings up five pages (roughly 150 items) to sift through including Protek CLP.

I and a few others had a horrible experience with them when we visited. We agreed to a boycott, so they probably lost $50k per year right there. I'll write it off as a complete success. Funny, i switched to schaff after that and got a big box of high quality candy the first year as a present.

A kind of a bitter sweet story.

I think we should allow Schaff time to move all the merch over from Pianotek, inventory it for matches with their own items (and possibly, condition), and then set up a huge lawn sale of items they don't want in their inventory.

I'm confident this merging of Piantek and Schaff will all work out. I got a personal phone call from Bob Marinelli last week since our keyboard shop buys a lot of materials through Pianotek in the past, a great part of it coming from Klinke and Kluge in Germany.  Bob assured me that he is staying on as a consultant with Schaff for two years, making sure the merger moves forward smoothly, and taking good care of customers. My biggest concern was that we're able to obtain material from Kluge in Germany such as key blanks, Tharan and back rail cloth etc....  We prefer the high quality Kluge parts, and Bob confirmed that Schaff will carry all that great stuff.

I also got a short email earlier this week from Schaff for my pending order to Pianotek, saying that it will take them about two weeks to sort everything out. I'd actually be amazed if they were able to ship Pianotek parts in that short of time.

I'm not very worried as I can order some but note all of the items I need from Jahn Pianoteile in Germany, but it's much easier not to have to deal with custom...
