  • 1.  Yamaha GH1 Tuning issues

I had a client contact me about a piano he is about to purchase and he has concerns that he's read online about tuning issues.  This is a 2002 GH1 with a Disklavier Mark III system.  Anyone have any comments?

Any Yamaha GH1, GA1, or GP1 that I resell gets the bottom 6 notes above the tenor rescaled. It's a quick easy repair. Actually, Yamaha had made this switch already on later versions of the GH1, so if your client has one with wound strings in the tenor then he's probably fine.

I replace the strings with wound bichords, but I know some techs replace them with Paulello wire.

Stock...these things are impossible to keep in tune for any reasonable length of time. He will need museum quality room humidity control if he wants to try to stabilize it.  They sound quite good when freshly tuned, but don't stay that way for long.
