Dr. Trevor Stephenson
The Healthy-Tempered Piano and How to Get it That Way
Learn about keyboard tunings and repertoire from the 16th to the 20th century. Focus on how subtle variations in keyboard temperament – when applied in the structured ways of the 20th century – can help provide a palette of beautiful interpretive and tonal colors.. Dr. Stephenson will perform in concert on Thursday, July 11 at 7:00 p.m. (Sponsored by the PTG Foundation, Schaff Piano Supply and Music Teachers National Assoc.)

Heather Walker
Introduction to the Alexander Technique

Do you have a tight neck, sore arms, or injuries from tuning pianos? Explore efficient movement using the Alexander Technique. Use practical experiments to learn how to notice tightening, release muscle tension, re-establish better balance and move with ease. Find out how to apply this awareness and efficiency of movement to your piano tuning and repair work, as well as your daily life.

Dan Levitan, RPT
The Craft of Piano Tuning
This all-day class, based on Dan’s recent book, The Craft of Piano Tuning, is an in-depth look into both the manual and the aural skills needed for the successful practice of the craft. In the course of the day, Dan will tune a complete piano. You’ll see simple and effective ways to understand the theory behind the practices being demonstrated. We’ll also focus on the more mysterious aspects of tuning technique and inharmonicity.

*Plus classes from RPTs Eric Schandall, Ward Guthrie, Anne Garee, Jack Stebbins, Rick Baldassin, Nick Gravagne and many more! Click here for a full list!
