Hammer Softener

CAVEAT_CAVEAT: Any attempt to use the Hammer Softener on a customer's piano in the way I did in this video clip runs the risk of loosening the glue that holds the hammer felt in place to the wood moulding. I was able to experiment on this particular piano because I owned it. (entered 5/19/14) Applying hammer softener sold by Pianotek Supply Company and its results. softener1 clip is approximately 30 seconds long and shows the before and after sound difference. softener2 clip is well over five minutes long and shows the actual pentration time it took for me to fully saturate a single bass hammer felt.

I wanted to add a caveat that was expressed by another individual who is very accomplished in the field of piano technology. The concern was the potential loosening of the actual glue that holds the hammer felt in place to the wood moulding. So, please take this into consideration.
I was simply able to experiment on this particular piano because I owned it. Regards, Keith

Wanted to add that the hammer softener I used had been sitting on the shelf for several years. I did use it at full strength, and it took one (1) full bottle plus a little extra to do all 88 hammers.

Thank you, Justin.
