I will be servicing a 7' Broadwood drawing room grand circa 1870.  I have not seen this piano before.  The customer complains of a squeaking noise occurring while pressing the una corda pedal.

I'd like to know what special problems might I anticipate when pulling the action?

Thanks in advance for your thoughts and advice.

Hahaha. 1870 Broadwood and their biggest complaint is a squeaky pedal?

Be prepared for 'oblong' wrest pins (tuning pins) and a fabricated dark red frame. Probably straight strung. If the action is complete there should be a board (with a large 'keyhole' cut out of it) covering the tops of the keys as they go under the action. There should (if this is one of those pianos) be a green decal entitled 'Notice to Tuners' on the soundboard at the bass end under the dampers. This is to advise (in a way) that the wrest-pins are machine threaded and cannot be bonked in to tighten them. The wrest-pin holes in the web are suitably tapped like the wrest pins. But enough!! This may not be one of those . . . .  If it is, let me know and I'll expound further . . .
