Well, excellent question Zeno. And apparently the answer is it has not changed at all! We have a new D and another from 96. The new lid prop stick looks different and I think I jumped to a conclusion that it was changed when they changed the music desk design. I chased down Kent Webb and grilled the parts department. The general consensus is that I am imagining things.
So crisis canceled. I can easily order a replacement.

I certainly don't have any answers, but perhaps you could explain how the stick was recently redesigned?
Thanks!

Subject: Steinway short lid prop
Over the weekend someone managed to shatter the short lid prop (top lid tongue I believe Steinway calls it...) on one of our performance D's. It's a mess and can't be salvaged. Since the top lid stick has been redesigned recently, Steinway no longer stocks the older part. I borrowed one off a B that is here in the shop but need to replace it. Does anyone have the part laying around that needs a good home?
Thanks,
Chris
