I have been tossing this around in my mind concerning these 8 areas Bradley mentioned concerning Steinway flanges and his approach. Here is what I have deduced. See image. The orange arrows either reflect the areas to travel, and the red arrows reflect the areas to space, or vice versa....

Created this support system for a grand piano music desk that was not too stable. I used four (4) Top Lid Supports with rubber caps usually meant for upright type pianos. Had to shorten them a bit. Not perfect, but better now. #2015
