My Profile

Mr. Fred Sturm, RPT

Contact Details

My main focus is as a concert pianist, specializing in the music of Heitor Villa-Lobos, Federico Ibarra, Rodolfo Halffter, Frederic Mompou and other Latin American and Spanish composers. I perform regularly and have recorded and released seven CDs. As a piano technician, I worked 35 years for the University of New Mexico on a part time basis, with a private clientele as well. My training has included the full four weeks of the CFTheodor Steinway Academy, one week of training with Shigeru Kawai, two weeks at the Sauter factory in Spaichingen, Germany, ten or more national PTG conventions, and various other opportunities.

I have written many articles for the Piano Technicians Journal, have taught at over 20 conventions as well as regional seminars and day-long chapter seminars, and have been an active member of my own NM chapter. I have also been active with the PTG Foundation, including serving as president.
