I have an information blind spot. What is the purpose of the two long rails attached to the flat side of the case on large grand pianos? Steinway, Baldwin and Bosendorfer frequently installed these. I originally thought they were used instead of skid boards for moving, but they seem to be too impractical for that purpose.
