me an idea for a day 1 !... see below. We've no doubt not heard the last
    of the first line :):)

OK.  If you really want line one to rhyme with the original, and "parched" is acceptable:

.. and a parched bridge and action verdigris (?!?!?)

    YES..........!

We finally found a line that rhymes and won't mind singing 30 times or so during the performance of this auspicious opus.

    Oh happy day. :-)

Ooooo... very close... meter is just a tad off... workable tho..
Parched bridge is perfect IMB.. and about the only thing I can think of
that rhymes with Tree is either versdigris or key.... so I suppose its
got to be one or the other...

Course... we could go a bit off the beaten path and say something like...

With a parched bridge that smells like cat pee ! :)

For the moment tho... we go with the tabled suggestion ! Tho Robs Cents
flat has to get worked in somewhere... 20 perhaps.. We have then... :

Sorry, but I have 2 email accounts and for some reason the default keeps
changing, so can anyone tell me if my messages from today at 5:49pm and
6:07pm were received? Only one of my accounts got them but I don't know if
they went out properly. Thanks for the info.

This just hit me... For the first day there could be a hopeful scenario to
this old clunker... How about "And a parched bridge but verdigris free! ??

I haven't been reading for a few days and only looked at this post, but at
the risk of sounding uninformed of the latest developments, may I suggest
for the first day, a "parched bridge and several bare keys"... In keeping
with the rhyme "partridge in a pear tree" and using someone's (see, I am
uninformed) words "parched"- and "several...keys"... Good thinking, whoever
wrote them. Any thoughts on going with the "a-swimming, a-milking" etc. idea
like the "jacks a-jumping" line? Very much a signature part of the song.
Also, I think Rob meant a-flat (like "a-jumping") rather than A flat.

    Here are 2 more suggestions:
    Seven ribs a-buzzin'
Six strings a-poppin' (or six strings a-zinging)
Also, this may be too far fetched, but if you got a Schomaker as the rebuild
you could have Five Golden Strings.

Uh ... well ... um ... yeah .... but, uh, what, exactly, is a parched bridge? Thirsty? The "action verdigris" works well.

Alan... :) See below from the online dictionary. I'm leaning in
Larrys direction really. Parched bridge and several bare (or warped)
keys. Fits the meter poifectly, and says nothing positive about this
    wreck !
