I use head lamps a lot in the shop, and regulating.  I have had a number of Home Depot specials, which were servicable but had issues, which I put up with. My last one fell apart, as usual, so I replaced it with this.  It was only $35.

    Slonik rechargeable headlamp 1000lumens

I really like it. Rechargeable, so I am not running out of AAA's all the time. Powerful...I only use it at 500lumens mostly, angle highly adjustable, good focuses beam, doesn't have the stupid red beam, which makes turning on the home depot specials a guessing game.

i love headlamps: tried several like Petzl until i got the Nitecore HC60 which i have been using now (a lot) for 10 years, still original battery which is good for some 4 hours of producing bright light. It's rated at 1200 lms but like Jim, i use it maybe at 500 lms which is still tons of light.

    No red light? How sad!
But at least it has the three strobe  modes. Very useful for determining who is prone to seizures...  Woo-woo!

I love  gadgets as much as anyone. But what I hate about gadgets is all the useless features they come loaded with.
Henry Ford was onto something when he discussed the color of his Model Ts.

but they got it almost right...the strobe setting, you have to do some herculean shenanigan's to get it to strobe...and I already forgot how, so I'm all set. But I agree, how about just on and off. But they will never design something for Olde Fartes, lets get real.
