New to me anyway. I went to the hobby store to purchase a few bottles of CA and asked the clerk if there was a more flexible version. He brought over a tube of Zap CA-RT.   RT = Rubber Toughened. This will be perfect for Susan's two-glue method.

I'd used it initially on a set of ivories that were slightly lifting at the front edge. I've used thinned hot hide glue before but it left a shadow (I don't recall if I mixed in show white). CA-RT dries clear and the ivories are tight now. It'll be a good field repair to reattach ivory with PVC-E glue.

Gorilla Super Glue, available in Home Depot and Lowes, is RT, rubber toughened.
I have used it for several years with good results.
It is slightly slower to harden and has much better shear resistance than standard CA.
DAP Rapid Fuse is similar, and now available. They don't state that it is "RT," but it is similar to Gorilla Super Glue.

The recommendation for common thin CA glue is to use when relatively fresh for treating loose tuning pins. I wonder if these glues will retain their effectiveness for a longer period of time without refrigeration. If so, that would be a nice advantage.

    It's about the same.
The RT CAs are a thicker than thin CA.
My first go to for loose tuning pins is regular thin CA in small tubes, which are available in packages of 6 or 10.
So far I have not had the little tubes harden before I opened them.

Interesting. I'll get hold of some and try it out.

I have been using Bob Smith Industries CA glue for several years now. Their "Insta-flex" is a flexible formula. They also have a RT formula however I think only in black. Not 100% sure though. It may be that the insta-flex is also RT.

I prefer the flexible CA for pinblocks as it seems to give a more natural feel to me. It is also slightly thicker than the water thin yet still wicks extremely well.
