What a coincidence, I was just asked by the owner of a very similar piano to give him and estimated resale value. While it says Otto Altenburg on the case and plate, the action is stamped 'SG-155' which is a Samick model #. This one is 25+ years old, in decent condition, needs regulation, that's about it.
I'm thinking $3000 - $4000. Am I close?

Philip,
I appraised one a few weeks back. In my investigations, I learned that the 1986 model year Otto Altenburg piano I looked at was Samick-made. I understand that recently pianos that bear the Altenburg name manufactured in China. Therefore, one needs to check the year of manufacture.
Hope this helps.

I appraised a little Otto Altenburg grand piano today. It looks exactly like a Kimball La Petite; same trapwork, action, etc. but no Kimball labels. The owner said it was a Korean piano. Did they make the La Petite in Asia?
