Does anyone have recommendations for removing scotch tape and gaffer's tape glue from a Yamaha with a black satin finish (I'm not sure that the piano make matters, but there it is).  I've thought of Goo Gone, but I worry about the oily residue.  I've heard that dish soap might be a solution (thought not necessarily on piano finishes).

    All thoughts appreciated!

    Peace,

Remove tape while heating it with a hair dryer. Tape adhesive may soften enough with heat to wipe of most of it but some solvent will need to be used for the residue.

Naptha is often effective for removing tape residue. It is easy on finishes.

    Luke,
As one who rents pianos for performances this issue comes up frequently. To remove the glue residue, use masking tape (you may find some brands work better than others)  to lift the adhesive from the finish -- or plate. By dabbing the glue residue with masking tape you will find that it picks it up without leaving a residue of its own.
