Does anyone know if Wurlitzer was involved in the Young Chang expanding action bracket problem. I have a customer with a C143 Grand #63946 that I did the first home tuning after it was bought in 1997 that is showing the symptoms of expanding action brackets.

    Thanks.

    hi Rex,
I have a customer with the exact same piano, made by Young Chang in the period between 1990 and 1994 and yes, it has the expanding action brackets.

Yes. Wurlitzer is part of that. I'm not sure of the years but I had a Wurlitzer grand with expanding action brackets about 2 years ago. YC sent me the brackets. Worked out just fine.

The Wurlitzer C143 was made by Samick not Young Chang ------------------------------------------- Gregory Holman Phoenix AZ -------------------------------------------

    Yes, and no.

Wurlitzer grands in the late 1980's were made by Young Chang.  It was only after Baldwin bought Wurlitzer that they cancelled the YC deal and had Samick make them.

I replaced a set of expanding action brackets in a Wurlitzer made by YC in the last two years. So, yes… It could easily be a YC built Wurlitzer.

The original post said C143 bought in 1997, that one would have been made by Samick. ------------------------------------------- Gregory Holman Phoenix AZ -------------------------------------------

I think that the models proceeded by a C where Samick and one  with G were YC.

Yes, the G's were YC.  I'm wondering if both companies got their brackets from the same vendor?

    Hi Rex,

A good thread so far.  Let's go back to the symptoms.  Blocking hammers?  Hammers catching on the backchecks on the way up?  Are the brackets grey in color?

Drop Sam Son an email  ......  I'll need help with the adr guys  ......  I couldn't find it.  He has all the documentation anyone could possibly want.  Give him the serial and model and see what happens.
