    All,
I am working on an 1896 Steinway upright and am having trouble regulating the damper spoons.  They are the old style, not straight and offset, but with a "half moon" shape to be able to access the whippen flange screw.  The spoons are loose in the whippen and turn when I try to regulate.  I have thought about gluing them in place with thin cyanocrylate so they won't twist.  Advice?
    Joy!

Sounds like a perfect place for thin CA glue!

Apply accelerator first to prevent the glue from wicking away from the area. If there is room, impact some baking soda into the gap. It will create a solid gap-filling mass once the CA is applied.

I would likely follow up the thin CA with something thicker, to fill any gaps, and give a collar where the spoon exits the wippen. That joint takes a lot of pressure from spoon bending.

Great advice!  Thank you do much!   One interesting thing about these spoons is that the shaft of the spoon does not completely penetrate the bottom of the wippen.
