First of all, thanks to all the teachers of tuning that have taken the time to share ideas with me. I'm really seeing how much aural tuning matters among technicians who teach.

But my inquiries have brought me to a question that I would like to submit to the board/home office. Do PTG lines of communication make it possible to contact every chapter president to solicit input on a particular topic? In other words, if the board/home office wanted to know how many teachers of aural tuning there are around the country, could they rely on asking chapter presidents to tell them who, on the local level, is formally teaching people, or who might be mentoring people on a more informal basis? Does the home office have a dedicated list with chapter president emails? How often has that list been tapped to gather information? What percent of the folks on that list respond? What percent don't have an email address? Could I find out who is teaching aural teaching by following this channel of communication? How often are chapter presidents challenged to answer organizational questions?

If it's possible for me to use this channel of communication, I'd like to submit my question to the chapter presidents and see what we get.

Short answer: yes. The leader letter goes to them I believe about once a quarter.

How often has that list been tapped to gather information?

Not sure if we have sent selective surveys

What percent don't have an email address?

I presume you are asking how many chapters do not receive the leader letter. I may be wrong, but I believe someone in every chapter gets one. However, we have some very dysfunctional chapters

Could I find out who is teaching aural teaching by following this channel of communication?

I would run this by your David Stoneman, your RVP. This is tasking HO time so a request needs to be coordinated.

How often are chapter presidents challenged to answer organizational questions?"

    Depends on the RVP

    Bill,

Thanks for the quick reply. So, next question. Does the LeaderLetter include all chapter officers? I'm Secretary of Tucson Chapter, so that's why I get the LeaderLetter? Is there just a list of chapter presidents? Is it public, i.e., could I access it and use it to ask chapter presidents to find out how many people teach aural tuning in their chapters? Asking David Stoneman would be a good start, but I'm curious about a national survey. It's interesting you use that word, survey. I just thought I had a rather simple single question and didn't think of it as being a survey. A request for some information seems different from soliciting opinions, which is what survey does. I was just thinking of this more informally, as in, "Hey, Joe, who's teaching in your chapter?" Just  like I'm asking you.

Maybe part of my question is how open are the board channels to chapter presidents? Could you as RVP just take your list of chapter presidents and ask a basic information question, no home office time involved? Maybe that's bad protocol. What you describe seems more involved and less personal.
