I am looking for a working Disklavier DKC 850 Control Unit to replace a DKC 55. Yamaha has discontinued the 850 and now has a 900 so I am hoping a disklavier tech may be able to find a DKC 850. I posted on the parts wanted thread and player thread but no replies to date. One of the area dealers has a dozen 900 units on order but they are backlogged filling orders. You can send me a private message

If you are planning on replacing the old DKC 55 unit with the DKC 850 I would recommend you wait until you can get one of the 900 units. They are much better units and, more importantly, still have parts and tech support available should something go wrong. I don't think you can order one directly from Yamaha but any authorized Yamaha dealer should have them or be able to get you one.

My controller unit model is DKC60RCD (Mark III Standard) , can it replace by DKC 900?
I can't find DKC 850 anywhere. My piano model is GC1

Yamaha has told me that the 900 will only replace the MKIV and and newer units. I understand that Yamaha has plans to eventually engineer the 900 so that it will also work on older MKII and MKIII systems, but that is not possible at the moment.

With the Enspire system, Yamaha has apparently decided that it finally is the ultimate approach. The previous systems leading up to it were, for lack of a better term, experimental. In other words, MKI's are different from MKII's, which are different from MKIII's, etc, etc. Their goal with the 900 is to find a way to incorporate those older systems into the 900, and be able to eventually provide the 900 as an upgrade to all older systems, but that is currently not possible.

The 850's are no longer available, and unless you luck upon a dealer that accidentally finds one hidden away you're pretty much out of luck.
