I just used a bluetooth keyboard, that held it up at an angle. There are plenty of places to put it. Using my phone, I just find a place to prop it, or lie it on its back, depending what angle I want to look at. Never really a problem.

I made a mount using a socked that would fit over a tuning pin, don't remember the size. To that was attached a cheap ball mount off of a cheap tripod.  A wood base with neoprene pad. Cut into that is a strong magnet.  My ipod case has a piece of metal attached.  The magnet and metal piece never actually touch, but there is plenty of strenth to hold the ipad against the mount. It would easily hold a Ipad Mini.

    Jeff,

Do you worry at all about having a strong magnet close to the iPad? Wouldn't that affect the workings of the iPad?

Not an issue.  Iphones etc have many magnetic mounts.  Never had an issue.  I do keep it so the magnet doesn't actually touch the ipod but that is basically so its easier to remove.  Magnets really are not a problem for any electronics.

Thanks for that information. I've heard that magnets and electronics aren't good together. I carry one of those magnetic pick up tools and I have tried to keep it away from my Accutuner. Maybe I don't have to worry about that any more. It's hard to break old ideas and superstitions, though.

Here's the setup I use. Just a tablet case that I place at various places on the plate.

Scott beat me to it. I use something similar: a case by Speck.
    Works well everywhere.

I use basically the same concept as both Scotts do, with the exception that mine is not magnetic or snap on. The iPad is held in place by a leather sleeve around the outer edges. Less than $15 from Amazon if I remember correctly.

Here's what I ended up doing...actually I flexed and went with an Iphone, instead of the mini Ipad, but the same set up works with a mini Ipad camera mount I have as well.  Took a cheap camera type mount, made a brass nipple with 3/8 x 30 male threads, 1/4 x 20 female threads, turned in a 1/4 bolt and bent it to a nice angle. The 3/8 x 30 threads screw into a watanabe tip, Works nicely. It is quite steady, and allows me to touch the screen without flexing the thing or tipping it over.

Will it actually turn the pin for you?

That's what the phone's vibrate thingee does...I bet you didn't know that!   Only thing is, I have to receive one call for each pin...might slow things down having 288 conversations while the phone is diligently tuning the piano.

Great way to keep in touch! Which person is your A440?

I think A440 is the robo call timeshare in god-knows-where.  Its very reliable, you can set your watch by it...calls several times a day, just to make sure I'm properly calibrated, I think.
