Thanks for all of the feedback, everyone!
Agreed that this is a great way to do it and I've used it on multiple occasions with great success (just last week actually).
Every once in a while I'll come across broken bass shank that has had a weak/loose hammer in the past and a previous tech has CA glued it back on. That is more-so the scenario that I'm looking for the old style angled bore jig. Unless anyone has any alternative methods that also works well with CA glued hammers. Any suggestions are more than welcome. :)

There is a relatively easy way to remove a broken shank. Trim the shank flush with the molding. Drill a pilot hole to accept a drywall screw. Place a drop of water in the hole.
Heat the screw tip to red hot and install into the molding (pliers come in handy here). The steam will soften the glue and you can use a key-type shank puller against the screw head to pull out the shank. This was a tip from some time back which I have employed numerous times.

Subject: Hammer/Butt bore jig
Hey all,
I'm trying to get ahold of the bore jig pictured in the PACE manual (metal one with the set up block) to add to my field kit. None of the supply houses seem to carry it and/or it's been discontinued. I tried the one that Schaff currently sells and it is less than accurate and not very solid. Hoping someone might have an extra one they'd be willing to sell/part with. I've posted this on the tech forum on Pianoworld as well. Thanks for any help!
