I'm adding another pedal squeak source to the excellent articles about noises in the Journal last year(?).
A customer complained about a pedal squeak on her aged Baldwin console. After working through all the various contact points, the solution was lubricating the little piece of leather where the left end of the mid/high damper lift rod lifts the right end of the bass damper lift rod. The piano has a bass sustain middle pedal so there are two separate damper lift rods.
